I am a Research Scientist in the Cornell Center for Astrophysics and Planetary Science.  My research is a hybrid between Physical Oceanography and Glaciology, focused on interactions between the ocean and the Greenland and Antarctic Ice Sheets.  This centers on the oceanic (and atmospheric) processes that drive melt at the Ice Sheet margins, and the fate of the resultant meltwater.

I work with Dr. Britney Schmidt’s group with the AUV/ROV Icefin.  For information regarding the awesome fieldwork that we are currently conducting check out the instagram and twitter profiles.

I’m currently looking into ocean circulation data from beneath Thwaites Glacier and Ross Ice Shelf, near the grounding line of Kamb Ice Stream. The flow beneath in the ocean cavity beneath these two large bodies of ice is very different, with tides primarily moving water in an elliptical motion beneath Ross and freshwater production from melting apparently driving the circulation beneath Thwaites.
